Covid19 Update for Volunteers
Dear Volunteer
Following advice from Schools and Children’s Services, it is highly unlikely that volunteers will be allowed to return to Schools until September 2020. Schools will want to establish safe working practices around Covid 19 and feel confident in reintroducing volunteers to the new working practices.
The one-to-one reading service you provide to children will be invaluable when hopefully in September we can return to our various schools and continue to aid the improvement of literacy in our area. Many of the vulnerable and disadvantaged children will have likely fallen further behind and will need our help all the more.
In the meantime we can all consider how we continue to offer reading assistance whilst keeping both volunteers and children safe.
With that in mind, we would appreciate your feedback on the following:
How do you feel about returning to school in September? Perhaps you are in a vulnerable group or are shielding and as such returning to the school environment may not be considered safe for you.
Returning to school? Do you have any suggestions as to how to keep one-to-one reading safe?
The reading support you provide will be required more than ever when we eventually return to schools. We continue to recruit more volunteers to meet the demand from schools in most need. Please pass on our details to anyone you feel would be interested in becoming a volunteer.
We value and thank you for your continued support throughout what are unprecedented circumstances.
Stay safe.
